NBA Notes 12/8/21

The Brooklyn Way (1)

Nets got another ugly win – but a win nonetheless. Should Mavs be hanging with them? Probably not. 17-7.

Entering tonight: Nets by opponent offense (per CTG):

Vs. Bottom 10 (ranked 21-30)

  • 9-0, +15.3 net rating, 101.1 defensive rating

Vs. Middle 10 (ranked 11-20)

  • 6-0, +9.2 net rating, 107.6 defensive rating (7-0 now)

Vs. Top 10 (ranked 1-10)

  • 1-7, -11.4 net rating, 113.5 defensive rating

Bad: Can’t beat the best teams. Harden isn’t playing like a superstar. Kyrie is gone. Harris is hurt.

Good: They have KD for 5 years. And despite worries, they *are* in first. Defense is improved. Just alarming how bad they are against good teams. Rather be BK than LA.

James Harden: 16 PPG son 33.7% shooting in their 7 losses (6 of the top 10). Twitter thread here.

Kyrie Irving update: He’s on a plant based diet and he’s the happiest he’s been in a while, per fellow New Jersey native and Bally Sports' own Brandon "Scoop B" Robinson. He ain't walking through that door anytime soon. If the Nets can't beat the league's elite, they're

NY State of Mind

Beat up on the lowly Spurs. Knicks needed it in the worst way — seemingly a fish out of water since their 5-1 start. Lacking defensive identity. Biggest free agent signing is out of the rotation. Took Thibs 20 games with him.

It feels like a disappointment, but the Knicks need to remember where they were and where they are. A few years ago they would've been jumping up and down if they were 12-12

This ain't Bird-Magic but LA-Boston nonetheless.
